MEMBERSHIP EXPLORATION SEMINARS

     We at Eastminster, take membership very seriously. Jesus said, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Following Jesus is not something to be taken lightly. It is also something, though, that is rich in reward. Immediately after saying that, Jesus said, "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. Finding life is the reward and we want to enable you to do that.

     We provide three opportunities annually to explore the meaning of membership at Eastminster and invite you to participate in one of those opportunities. Our Membership Exploration Seminars are conducted in the spring, summer, fall. We meet for two hours on two successive Saturdays and on the Sunday following the second session we meet during the during the Sunday School hour and then with session who officially receive new members into the church. New members are then introduced to the congregation that day and a welcoming reception is held at the conclusion of worship.

     The content of the three sessions is as follows:

      Seminar #1 – “What does it mean to be a Christian?”  This session will focus on the very basics of Christianity, beginning with an overview of the Bible. We will look at some of the vital doctrines of faith and then move into an examination of historical Christianity.

      Seminar #2 – “What Does It Mean to be a Presbyterian Christian?"  In this session we will continue our exploration of historical Christianity and move into an examination of the Presbyterian Church and its roots.

      Seminar #3 – “What Does It Mean to Be an Eastminster Presbyterian Christian?"  This final session, held on Sunday morning, will give us an opportunity to learn about some of the programs and opportunities available at Eastminster. Staff members and leaders of the church will join us to share information and answer questions.

                Session #2 –  Saturday, April 29, 9:00-11:00 AM
                Session #3 –  Sunday, April 30, 9:00-10:00 AM

     Summer
                Session #1 –  Saturday, August 19, 9:00-11:00 AM
                Session #2 –  Saturday, August 26, 9:00-11:00 AM
                Session #3 –  Sunday, August 27, 9:00-10:00 AM

     Winter
                Session #1 –  Saturday, December 2, 9:00-11:00 AM
                Session #2 –  Saturday; December 9, 9:00-11:00 AM
                Session #3 –  Sunday, December 10, 9:00-10:00 AM

     In the time period prior to attending the seminars, we invite and encourage you to become involved in all aspects of the church's life. We encourage you to be regular in worship and Sunday School and to become involved in mission and small group activities. Such involvement will give you a better understanding of the church and afford you the opportunity to meet our members. Please feel free to call the church office regarding any questions you have.
